Iceland Guide – frequently asked questions
What is Iceland Guide?
Iceland Guide is an AI travel guide for visitors to Iceland. You ask questions about your trip – what to see, where to stop, how to plan your days – and see the places on an interactive map of 9,000+ places. It runs in your web browser at askicelandguide.com.
What can I ask the AI guide?
Anything about travelling in Iceland: itinerary ideas for your number of days, what to see on the Golden Circle or the South Coast, which waterfalls, hot springs or viewpoints are near a town, where to eat or stay overnight on your route, and what to do on a given day.
How many places are on the map?
The map has 9,000+ places across Iceland, including waterfalls, viewpoints, hot springs, caves, glaciers, towns, museums, restaurants, cafés, campsites and fuel stations.
Is Iceland Guide free?
Yes. You get 5 free AI questions every month with a free account – sign up with your email or Google, no payment details needed. If you need more, you can buy a question pack or choose a monthly plan.
How much does Iceland Guide cost?
Question packs: 10 questions for €2.99, 30 for €6.99, 100 for €16.99. Monthly plans: Traveler €6.99/month (100 questions) and Premium €16.99/month (unlimited questions). You can also switch prices to US dollars: packs $3.99, $7.99 and $19.99, Traveler $7.99/month and Premium $19.99/month.
Can I cancel a monthly plan?
Yes. You can manage or cancel your plan at any time with the “Manage / cancel subscription” button on the Subscription Plans page in your account.
Do I need to download an app?
No. Iceland Guide works in the browser on your phone, tablet or computer. You can add it to your home screen for quick access.
Can it help me plan a Ring Road or 7-day itinerary?
Yes. Tell the AI how many days you have, when you travel and what you like, and it suggests a day-by-day plan with stops you can see on the map. You can then ask follow-up questions to change the plan.
Which parts of Iceland does it cover?
All of Iceland: Reykjavík, the Golden Circle, the South Coast, Reykjanes, Snæfellsnes, the Westfjords, North Iceland, the East Fjords and the Highlands.
Where should I check roads and forecasts before I drive?
Always check the official sources before you drive: umferdin.is / road.is (Icelandic Road and Coastal Administration) for roads, vedur.is (Icelandic Met Office) for forecasts, and safetravel.is for travel alerts.
Is the AI always right?
The AI gives suggestions based on its knowledge and our place data, and it can make mistakes. Check opening hours, prices and bookings with the place itself, and use the official sources above for roads and forecasts.
How does Iceland Guide work?
- Ask a question in plain words, such as "What should I see between Vík and Höfn?"
- Get a short answer with the places marked on the map.
- Open any place to see where it is and what is nearby, then ask a follow-up.
What do travellers usually ask?
- Day-by-day itineraries for 3, 5 or 7 days, or the full Ring Road
- Which waterfalls, hot pools and viewpoints are close to a town
- Where to stop for food or fuel on a long drive
- How to split a trip between the South Coast, Snæfellsnes and the north
